5 Reasons I Love Kid Parties at My Local Arts & Crafts Store!
Every year I get anxious around birthday season. We’ve been to all the local party venues (they all feel the same) with kids running around screaming, and played-out pizza packages. Don’t get me wrong, the kids love them! But those parties can easily run hundreds of dollars, and possibly an additional arm and leg if you’re not careful. Trying to choose a birthday party idea that is both unique and cost-effective can become an exhausting task every year! But alas, I found my spot, and I’m sold for life! Let me introduce you to my party bae, Michael!
For the past two years, we threw our daughter’s birthday party at Michaels. Who knew the store where you get lost buying tons of creative items that you don’t even need also threw great parties…AND for a great price?
Michaels is my party venue of choice these days. For a great price, the kids spend their time doing arts & crafts that they love! No screaming, no running around, no losing kids in a sea of hundreds of other children that are wild with sugar highs. If you’re looking for a fun, quiet, and manageable party that doesn’t drive the adults mad, keep reading!
On the Michaels website, you can pick from an array of themed arts & craft parties to fit the kid age group you are looking for. They even have slime parties (ugh)! This year we chose a unicorn party, because unicorns are apparently all the rage. They even offer face-painting!
These are the reasons I loved the Michaels birthday party…
1. It Was Affordable!
Relatively speaking, this party undercuts the kid-party market. Most parties I’ve thrown at different venues ran anywhere from $400 to $600 for a 2-hour slot. Michael’s offers kids parties for less than $150. This fee includes a private room, arts & craft supplies, and an instructor for a party of 8 children. You can add on additional children for a small fee. This was a great deal if you ask me! I can use that savings on other things they need.
2. We Brought Our Own Food
Most venues I’ve used in the past required that you purchase their food package along with the party, inclusive of a pizza and pitcher of soda for a gazillion dollars! At Michaels, I was able to choose my own food for a great price. My entire pizza lunch was way more affordable than the expensive packages we are used to.
3. The Instructor Was Phenomenal
Our instructor was so friendly and great with children! While the kids cut, glued, and glittered their projects, she floated around the room and gave them each individual attention. She made each child feel like their artwork was a beautiful masterpiece!
4. The Kids Made Their Own Party Favors
In the past, I used to spend another $50 or so just on party favors. You know, the usual beads, bubbles, whistles and JUNK that kids take home in a baggie. But at Michaels, each child left with a “expertly” decorated unicorn bag to carry their art projects and leftover birthday cake.
5. The Party Was Short & Sweet!
Unlike home birthday parties that can go on and on for hours, the 2-hour party was just right! It was the perfect amount of time to make 3 projects, eat, and sing happy birthday…. no time left for the kids to get bored and restless. And best of all, we didn’t have to clean up anything! Our wonderful instructor waved us all goodbye and cleaned up all the glitter messes.
The kids posed for one last photo before we parted ways!
And one last pose for me and my birthday girl!
Check to see if your local Michaels offers parties, you’ll be happy you did 🙂
